Welcome to the Bowie Volunteer Fire Department Part of the Prince George's County Fire/EMS Department, the Bowie VFD is a full service Fire / Rescue / EMS Department responsible for protecting the fourth largest city in the State of Maryland by providing 24 hour emergency services to the citizens and visitors of Bowie, Maryland and surrounding areas. Our department is composed of three stations with primary response area of approximately 28 square miles and a population of over 54,000. Condolences for the Loss of William Smith Friday, June 26, 2009 The Officers and Members of the Bowie Volunteer Fire Department would like to extend our sincere and deepest condolences to the Kentland Volunteer Fire Department and to the family of William Smith. More... | | | Units Run House Fire on Felter Lane Monday, May 18, 2009 Shortly before midnight, units were dispatched to the 2600 block of Felter Lane for a reported house fire. The box alarm brought Engine companies 39, 19, 18, and Arundel 7; Tower 43, Truck 28 and Rescue Squad 33. Engine 391 arrived with a 1-story single family dwelling with heavy fire pushing from the rear of the structure. More... | | | Bowie Volunteers Help Support Andrews Air Show Friday, May 15, 2009 Several members from the Bowie Volunteer Fire Department took part in the 2009 Joint Services Open House (Air Show) at Andrews Air Force Base. Bowie VFD members answered questions and gave tours of the apparatus as well as took in the exciting show. Engine 191, Tanker 39 and the Canteen took the trip. More... | | | Vehicle Crash with Entapment on Collington Road Saturday, April 18, 2009 Engine Company 43 and the ambulance were dispatched for a vehicle accident at the intersection of Town Center Boulevard and Collington Road (197). Chief 43B (Howard) also marked-up on the call. Upon arrival, the crews from Company 43 informed Chief 43B to upgrade the call to include a medic unit for possible leg trauma and entrapment.
